Bio

Peter Olafeso enters his seventh season as Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) and his tenth year overall with the Blue Knights program. Since taking over in 2020, Olafeso has continued to elevate DCTC into one of the premier programs in NJCAA Region 13, guiding the Blue Knights to four Region 13 championships (seven total) and two District titles (five total) during his tenure as head coach.

Olafeso’s impact was immediate. In his first season as interim head coach (2020–21), DCTC finished 21-10, captured both the Region 13 and North Plains District championships, and earned a berth in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. In his third season (2021–22), the Blue Knights posted a 20-10 overall record and secured an 8th-place finish at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. Under his leadership, DCTC has consistently competed on the national stage while helping student-athletes advance to the next level.

Before joining the collegiate coaching ranks, Olafeso began his career at Park High School, where he served as a freshman coach and assistant varsity coach. His experiences at multiple levels of the game have shaped a coaching philosophy centered on discipline, player development, and teamwork.

As a player, Olafeso was a standout at Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC), where he earned All-Conference, All-State, All-Region, and All-Tournament honors. He was a key contributor to the 33-2 MCTC team that finished as NJCAA Division III national runner-up. He later transferred to Concordia University, St. Paul, where he was named Newcomer of the Year and was a two-time All-Conference selection.

Olafeso holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Concordia University, St. Paul, and a Master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration. His blend of playing success, coaching expertise, and commitment to student-athlete development has made him a respected leader within the NJCAA coaching community.
