DCTC Blue Knights Volleyball Announces the Signing of Laila Chaplin
The Blue Knights volleyball team has signed Laila Chaplin, a 5-11 outside/middle/opposite hitter, from Minneapolis, MN.
"I am so excited that Laila will be a part of our program. She is dynamic and extremely athletic. She has played every position across the front row and continues to improve her all around game. She is a fierce competitor and will bring lots of power to our offense. Laila has unlimited potential and I can't wait to see what she what she accomplishes at DCTC!" said head coach Jen Bowman.
We asked Laila a few questions to get to know her better.
Tell us a little about yourself and about your volleyball history up to this point.
I started playing volleyball freshman year in high school, and have loved the sport ever since! It's been really cool to see my growth from year to year, and I'm proud that I'm now a good all around player and can play many different positions when on the court!

4 years at Minneapolis Southwest High School (Freshman team (middle), JV (middle, starter), JV (middle, starter), Varsity (middle/RS, starter) respectively)
15U at Club Tonka - middle
16U at Club 43 - middle
17U at Northern Lights - RS
18U at MN Select - OH
List any volleyball/academic awards you have received:
Junior Year and Senior Year at SWHS: Most Improved Player
What other interests/hobbies or activities do you participate in?
Art, dance, choir, musicals/theater
Why did you choose DCTC and what you are excited about in the coming 2 years?
DCTC offers me an opportunity to earn credits towards a college degree, as well as allow me to play volleyball at a competitive level and continue to improve my game! I think the smaller campus and class sizes are a great fit for me and DCTC offers a variety of classes in the area I'm interested in pursing for a career. I'm excited to be a Blue Knight and help our team bring home W's!
