Blue Knights Baseball Region Tournament Update
DCTC (28-16) wins game 1 of the Region 13 playoffs against Dawson Community College 15-1 in 5 innings.
Freshman Jayden Peterson struck out 14 batters as the righty dominated in the opener. Peterson gave up two hits and one run over five innings while walking none.
A solo home run to left field in the top of the 1st by Evan Nelson put the Blue Knights ahead and they didn't look back.
DCTC added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Jacob Cisewski tripled to right field, Cooper DeSutter singled down the left field line, and Evan Nelson was hit by a pitch, each scoring one run.
DCTC won thanks in part to eight runs in the fourth inning. Jimmy Hansen hit a solo home run to right field, Brady Stoeklen singled, scoring two runs, Cooper DeSutter drew a walk, scoring one run, Tyler Prom drew a walk, scoring one run, and Jack Seleski doubled, scoring three runs.
DCTC Blue Knights accumulated 11 hits in the game. Cooper DeSutter led the way with four runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Hansen, Nelson, DeSutter, and Cisewski each collected two hits for DCTC Blue Knights.
The win moved DCTC into the winner's bracket game against #1 seed Williston State (44-12)
DCTC Blue Knights(29-16) Defeat Williston State College 8-5 to secure a spot in the Region 13 Championship.
DCTC opened the scoring in the third after Dylan Larson tripled, scoring one run.
Williston State College jumped into the lead in the bottom of the third when Moreno Jackson hit a solo home run to center field, and dirt ball third strike scored two runs.
The Blue Knights flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 6-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Brady Stoeklen that drove in three.
Eddie Moore Jr. earned the win for DCTC Blue Knights. The left hander allowed zero hits and two runs (one earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking five. Carter Simonson started on the mound for DCTC. Simonson allowed four hits and three runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking one. Shrider led things off on the mound for Williston State College. The righty surrendered seven hits and five runs over four innings, striking out five and walking two. Wes Byer threw 3.1 huge innings for the Blue Knights to slam the door on the Tetons.
The Blue Knights tallied 13 hits in the game. Brady Stoeklen drove the middle of the lineup, leading DCTC with three runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Jimmy Hansen set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading DCTC with three hits in five at bats. Nelson, DeSutter, and Larson each collected multiple hits for the Blue Knights.
DCTC will now play at 4pm in the Region 13 Championship game against the winner of Williston State and Miles CC.
