DCTC Blue Knights Volleyball: Talent-Rich Team Looks to Turn Season Around
As the Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) Blue Knights women's volleyball team recently hit the midpoint of their 2025 season, the overall record doesn't quite reflect the talent, heart, and hustle this squad brings to the court. With a roster full of athleticism and potential, the Blue Knights are far from out of the fight.
So far, the team has faced a challenging schedule filled with tough opponents and growing pains typical of a developing squad. Despite several strong individual performances, the Blue Knights have struggled to string together wins consistently. But if you ask Head Coach John Olmanson, there's more to the story than the numbers.
"We've got some incredible athletes on this team, athletes that compete hard every single play," said Coach Olmanson. "The biggest thing we're working on is turning that individual talent into team rhythm. Once we find that groove, I really believe this team is capable of turning the corner."
Indeed, the Blue Knights have shown flashes of brilliance — including hard fought sets and rallies that kept fans on the edge of their seats. The freshman have stepped up in key moments, while returning sophomores bring leadership and experience that's essential in a rebuilding phase.
Still, the team knows that effort alone doesn't win games. The focus moving forward is on tightening communication, improving consistency, and learning how to close out tight sets. For Coach Olmanson, it's not just about fixing mistakes — it's about trusting the process.
"We're learning how to compete together, not just beside each other," Olmanson added. "We've had some tough losses, but every match teaches us something. The spirit in this locker room is strong, and we're going to keep pushing."
With almost half the season still to go, the Blue Knights are far from finished. The upcoming schedule offers a prime opportunity to flip the narrative and show what this team is truly made of. If their athletic ability is any indication, the wins may be just around the corner.
