Blue Knight Wrestling Team Finding Their Place In the First Month of Season

11/26/06

Bison Open

The DCTC Blue Knights wrestling team began their season at the Bison Open on Nov. 11. While the day saw some successful individual performances, the real victory came in preseason when the program found itself with the deepest recruiting class in the history of DCTC wrestling.

"At this point in the season, it’s not whether you win or lose. It’s how you win and lose. I think we did a great job competing against some very solid opponents and wrestling to our potential," said DCTC Blue Knight Head Wrestling Coach Curt Foley.

Of particular note was heavyweight Jake Morgan.

"Morgan’s performance made him a real factor at the junior college level after losing to only two Division I opponents," said Foley.

Kauffman Brand Open

As the end of the first month of the wrestling season came to a close, the Blue Knights participated in one of the toughest tournaments they would see all year - the Kauffman Brand Open.

"The fact that the Kauffman Brand is the toughest is the reason that we competed. We will now go back, after having competed against the best in sport, and perfect the things we did well and work on those things that didn't work well," said Coach Foley. "The season allows us to gradually improve our process. There are many learning curves for these talented young men."
