Blue Knight Wrestlers Compete In Moorhead Open

MOORHEAD, Minn.- The Blue Knights wrestling team competed at the Moorhead Dragon Open on Dec. 4. The tournament featured many tough wrestlers from Augsburg College, The University of Minnesota, North Dakota State and The University of Mary.
Carl Troje (184) turned in the best performance for the Blue Knights, going 2-2 on the day, defeating opponents from Moorhead State and the University of Mary. Troje was one victory away from placing.
Perry Olson (157) went 1-2 on the day and was also one match away from placing. One of Perry's defeats came at the hands of Augsburg's Marcus LeVesseur. LeVesseur is a two-time National Champion and has never lost a college match.
Casey Hellenberg (285) recorded a record of 1-2 on the day. He pinned his first opponent, from The University of Mary, in the 2nd period. Mark Simmonds of Augsburg College, who was an All-American last season, knocked Hellenberg out of the tourney, is nationally ranked this season.
Justin Weeks (133), Nate Brackenbury (149), Aaron Myers (157), and Kyle Muhlberg (174) also competed for the Blue Knights in Moorhead.
The Blue Knights next competition is Dec. 11, at the Dick Walker Open at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. DCTC will compete against numerous nationally ranked Division III squads.
