Blue Knight Cory Warman Competes At National Wrestling Tournament

03/05/04

Blue Knight wrestler Cory Warman represented Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) at the recent National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) tournament held in Rochester, Minn.

Warman, a 141-pound athlete from Somerset, Wis., was defeated in the first round to eventual fifth-place finisher Topher Ewing of Iowa Central Community College.

According to DCTC Head Coach Henry Gerten, Warman wrestled two “tough” matches well and “gained valuable experience leading him into next year.”

Following his loss to Ewing, Warman narrowly lost a match 5-4 to eliminate him from the tournament.

Looking forward to next year’s schedule, Gerten said he is already looking for solid wrestlers to take the Blue Knights into their fourth season of competition. “We have our goals set for 2004-05 to make a serious run and compete at the national tournament next February.”
