DCTC Volleyball Announces the Signing of Alexis Wendland
Alexis Wendland (Lexi), an outside hitter/setter, from Arco MN and RTR High School, signed her letter of intent on Sunday to play volleyball for the DCTC Blue Knights volleyball team.
"Lexi is a dynamic athlete that will make an immediate impact on the court. She is extremely versatile and has experience hitting outside, right side, middle, and setting! She has a great work ethic and a team first attitude, so she will continue to improve and make our team better at the same time. She is not only a great athlete, but she is a fantastic student. She was named to the All State Academic team this past weekend. I am so excited to have Lexi as a part of our program, and I can't wait to see all of the great things she will do at DCTC!" said head volleyball coach Jen Bowman.
We asked Lexi a few questions to get to know her a little better:
1. Tell us a little about yourself and about your volleyball history up to this point:
A little bit about myself is that my favorite color is purple. My favorite food is alfredo. I love to go shopping. My absolute favorite holiday is Christmas. The 25 Days of Christmas and the Hallmark Channel are my go-to when its Christmas time. I also love the winter. I have been playing volleyball since fourth grade through club. I started playing on the varsity team my freshman year.
2. List the years and names of volleyball teams you've played for:
I played with my school club program for six years. My school volleyball program for six years. I then will have played for SDVC volleyball club for three years this year.
3. List any volleyball/academic awards you have received:
My junior year I received Camden Conference-Honorable Mention. I also have received A honor roll recognition throughout my whole academic career. I also have taken part in our schools Honor Society in my junior and senior year. Academic All State my senior year.
4. Have you played any other sports? If yes, list them and how long you've played them.
I used to take part in club gymnastics for four years, year-round. I took part in high school gymnastics for a year. I then did basketball for three years.
5. What other interests/hobbies or activities do you participate in?
I am involved in my local 4-H club, where I show dairy cattle. I also love to spend time with friends, family, and my dogs.
6. Why did you chose DCTC and what you are excited about in the coming 2 years:
I chose DCTC because they had what I was looking for in a college, which was my degree (interior design) and smaller class sizes, to have a lower student to teacher ratio. Why I also chose DCTC is because of the location of the college. I am very excited to be able to keep playing the sport that I love, and to continue to grow as a player. I know that with the help of Coach Jen I will be able to continue to further my playing ability.
Welcome to the Blue Knights family Lexi!
