Chris Petersen brings over 25 years of coaching experience into his first season as an assistant coach with the Blue Knights.
His coaching career began at age 18 when he took over the Richfield boys Under 16 traveling soccer team and since coached boys and girls teams with Richfield, Westside F.C., Dakota Rev and the legendary Blackhawks club. Many of his former players have continued on to play at collegiate level as well as returning to the game as coaches.
Petersen has coached in the Olympic Development Program (ODP) and for Coerver Coaching programs. He earned a United States Soccer Federation National “C” License and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and received his NSCAA Goalkeeping Diploma this year.
Chris has been an associate coach to Mark Obarski (new DCTC Womens head coach) at Eagan High School since 2004. At Eagan, Petersen mentored and taught dozens of future college soccer players and was named the Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaches Association (MSHSSCA) “Assistant Coach of the Year” in 2012.
Petersen, originally from Detroit Michigan, has lived in Minnesota since 1979. Growing weary of the endless months of shoveling snow, has recently relocated to Austin Texas where he now enjoys the life of a Minnesota "snow-bird".
