DCTC Men's Basketball Season Preview

After clinching their first National Tournament bid last season, the Blue Knights men's basketball team is hoping to repeat in the 2016-17 season.

With a new head coach and only two returning players from last year's national tournament team, the Blue Knights will have their work cut out for them.

"We are relying on their leadership and experience. We are a very young basketball team," said head coach, Kelly Boe.

With only two sophomores and a large number of true freshman playing their first college basketball, coach Boe emphasized the importance of getting better each and every game.

The team has played two games thus far, losing their first contest 86-79 to Rainy River Community College. The team bounced back in their second contest on Wednesday, scoring a basket with 1.3 seconds left in the game, to take the 72-71 victory over Rochester Community Technical College.

Freshman, Adreon Wadlington scored 24 points and Joey Johnson added 10, including the last second tip in.

The win over Rochester Community Technical College broke a 53 home game winning streak for the YellowJackets - a huge accomplishment for the young Blue Knights team.

Next up, tonight - the Blue Knights take on Central Community College - Columbus. Saturday, the team is back at home versus Southeast Community College.
