Dana Kiecker joined the DCTC Blue Knights Baseball coaching staff with a wealth of baseball experience. As a former Major Leaguer, Kiecker was drafted in the 8th round of the 1983 MLB draft after a successful career at Saint Cloud State University where he was inducted into the St. Cloud State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998. He played as a pitcher for the Boston Red Sox in the early nineties and earned his first major league win on June 9, 1990 vs. Chicago White Sox. During the 1990 season, Kiecker made 25 starts and compiled a record of 8-9, ERA of 3.97, won the American League East Division Championship that year, was named the Red Sox Rookie of the Year by the Boston Baseball Writer’s Association and was honored as the Hyde Park Lion’s Club, 1990 Man of the Year.
A native of Fairfax, MN, Kiecker established the Kiecker Scholarship Fund to benefit high school graduates in his hometown and has since contributed over $45,000 in scholarships. He is currently an active participant in the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association in Minnesota, including Swing With the Legends Golf Tournaments and Legends for Youth baseball clinics. Kiecker currently resides in Eagan with his wife, Julie who works as a group fitness department head at Lifetime Fitness, his daughter Paige and his son Mitchell.
