DCTC Women's Soccer Mows Down Iowa Central 8–0

Blue Knights move to second place in ICCAC

The DCTC Lady Knights beat Iowa Central Community College for the first time in five years and climbed up to the second slot in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference. Playing away in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Friday, Sept. 11, DCTC took a 3–0 halftime lead, following up with five more unanswered goals to trounce the Tritons 8–0. Forward Amanda Olsen, a graduate of Park High School in Cottage Grove, Minn., stood out for the Knights, scoring three goals.

The next day, Saturday, Sept. 12, DCTC improved to 5–3–0 with a win over Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, Ill. Blue Knight Amanda Olsen notched her fourth goal of the weekend, scoring the only goal in the 1–0 victory, which also took place in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Midfielder Kate Fox, a graduate of Simley High School in Inver Grove Heights, earned an assist on Olsen's game winner. Breann Fitzgerald and Kassie Young split time in goal for the Knights, each playing one half in each of the weekend's two games.

DCTC went on to crush Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa, Wednesday, Sept. 16, winning 7–0 while upping their record to 6–3–0. They are currently in second place in the ICCAC.

The Knights return home Friday, Sept. 18, to face Anoka-Ramsey Community College. The next day, they take on Century College, also at home on the championship field of the new Ames Soccer Complex.
