DCTC Women Victorious In Home Match, Men's Squad Continues To Seek Winning Ways

Rosemount, Minn.-- The Blue Knights men's soccer team suffered two disappointing losses this weekend including a 3-2 overtime loss on Friday against Madison Area Technical College.
The first-year men's side was also shutout 4-0 on Sunday against a more- experienced Allen County Community College (KS).
The Blue Knights women team fared better, putting themselves back in the win column with a huge 10-0 victory over the Allen County Community College women's squad.
The women's team convincingly took down Allen County CC 10-0, scoring nine first-half goals. Scoring for the Blue Knights were Rebecca Noonan (4 goals, 2 assists), Sheena Lien (2 goals, 3 assists), Olena Lundquist (2 goals), Emily Grannes (1 goal, 1 assist), and Katie Majkrzak (1 goal).
Whitney Leverington, Teresa O'Keefe, Kelly Blanshan and Tina Spurr each added one assist. Majkrzak and Noonan each played 45 minutes in goal sharing the shutout.
The DCTC women's soccer team currently holds a 7-5-1 record. Coach Cam Stoltz reported that a .500 or better record will qualify the Blue Knights for the NJCAA District Playoffs in November.
The Blue Knight men rallied against Madison Area Technical College on Friday but ended up losing 3-2 in overtime. After giving up the first goal early in the first half, DCTC answered MATC's goal on a corner kick by Josh Anderson to Dan Nettleson who headed it in putting DCTC on the board in the 35th minute.
DCTC added another goal in the 76th minute by Marwa Omot on an assist from Pat Harnett, which was deflected out by MATC's keeper giving the Blue Knights the lead.
However, the goal was answered four minutes later by MATC, making the score 2-2 and sending the game into OT. MATC then scored the overtime goal to end the game.
Following Sunday's 4-0 loss against Allen County, the DCTC men's record stands at 5-9-0 overall (4-7-0 NJCAA and 3-3-0 in Region 11).
Both the women and men will be in action against St. Olaf on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at Inver Grove Heights Rich Valley Complex. Kickoff for both games is set for 3:30 p.m.
