Men's Soccer Goes 2-1 for Week

Blue Knights lose to NIACC; rebound with  back-to-back wins

 

The DCTC men's soccer team dropped an ICCAC game 0–4 on Wednesday, Oct. 8, to North Iowa Area Community College. The Knights bounced back, grabbing two games in Wisconsin over the weekend (Oct. 11 & 12). The NIACC loss kept the Blue Knights in sixth position in the eight-team NJCAA Iowa Community College Athletic Conference with four league matches remaining.

The Knights next trekked to Madison, Wis., to take down Madison Area Technical College in a 2–1 overtime with on Saturday, Oct. 11. That Sunday, Oct. 12, the men dumped Milwaukee Area Technical College in Milwaukee in a 2–0 shutout, giving the Knights their second win over the Stormers this season.

In Saturday's game, freshman El Elnimeriy (Rochester John Marshall) scored first for DCTC with sophomore Geofrey Kalanzi (Kabojja School, Kampala, Uganda) nabbing the winner in overtime off of a corner kick.

The wins propelled DCTC to 7–7–1 on the season with five games left on the schedule before regional playoffs. The men's squad travels to Iowa Western Community College on Wednesday, Oct. 15, and Indian Hills Community College on Thursday, Oct. 16, before hosting Marshalltown Community College on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 4 p.m. DCTC plays all home games at Rose Park in Burnsville.
