DCTC Soccer Players Gain All-America Recognition
12/09/05
Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) men’s soccer player Casey Holm and women’s soccer player Kasey Dobbs were recently named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American, Honorable Mention, Division I teams.
Holm completed the 2005 season ranked fourth in NJCAA Division I by scoring 64 points (26 goals and 12 assists). A sophomore forward from Hudson, Wis., Holm captained the 2005 Blue Knights in the team’s second varsity season.
The Blue Knights earned a record of 12-8-1 overall, ending with a regional semifinal 1-0 loss at Iowa Western. Over his two-year career at DCTC, Holm compiled 40 goals and 19 assists, as well as a slot on the NJCAA All-Region team and team MVP honors. He is looking to move on after two years at DCTC, and is being recruited by a number of NCAA scholarship Division I and II programs.
Dobbs, a freshman from Rosemount High School, led the women’s team in scoring and finished fifth in the nation with 72 points (33 goals and 6 assists). Dobbs helped the Blue Knights to a 2005 regular season record of 8-8-2. On the way, Dobbs set a DCTC single season scoring record, surpassing Becca Noonan of the 2004 Knights, who had racked up 59 points (21 goals and 17 assists). Dobbs was also recently recognized as team MVP.
Head Coach Cam Stoltz said he was proud to have the two players in the Blue Knight soccer program.
“Holm and Dobbs played through many challenges and consistently produced,” Stoltz said. “These awards are not only compliments to the player, but a reflection of the team’s hard work overall and aim towards excellence on the field. These players should be congratulated and their teammates should be proud.”
Dobbs and Holm join former Blue Knight Sheena Lien (2003) as DCTC’s first three soccer All Americans in just three soccer seasons. In other Blue Knights soccer news, the NJCAA and the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (of which DCTC is a member), recently named their All-Region teams, honoring several Blue Knight players.
