DCTC Soccer Teams Take 3 Of 4 On The Road

Northfield, Minn.-- The DCTC Blue Knights soccer squads continue to find success away from home, taking 3 of 4 games over the weekend, and leaving Coach Cam Stoltz with an optimistic outlook for the remainder of the season.
On Saturday, the Knights rode into Northfield to take on St. Olaf College. The women's team came away with a convincing 5-2 win, while the men emerged on top of the Oles by a 2-1 margin. Following their sweep on Manitou Heights, the Blue Knights traveled south to Fort Dodge, Iowa for a neutral site game against Western Nebraska.
While the men lost to WNCC 4-1, the DCTC women's team was impressive against the #8 nationally ranked squad from Scottsbluff, outlasting them 3-2.
Reached after the game for comment, Coach Stoltz said the weekend was a success overall, mentioning that the men's team learned some valuable lessons in its defeat.
Next stop for the Blue Knights men's team is Macalester College in St. Paul on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.. Returning to Interstate 35, both the men's and women's squads play Friday away at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City, Iowa, and on Saturday against Scott Community College in Bettendorf, Iowa.
DCTC athletics had arguably the best soccer result in its young history Sept. 18 and 19, pulling off an upset by beating the 8th ranked team in the nation in Western Nebraska Community College.
Playing the game at a neutral site on Sunday, (Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa), DCTC found itself with the kickoff and a strong wind behind them in the first half.
In other Blue Knights action, the DCTC men split on the weekend winning 2-1 in a strong performance at St. Olaf College JV, while falling to Western Nebraska at Fort Dodge 4-1.
The first-year DCTC men's team owns a record of 3-5 before heading into St. Paul on Sept. 21 to face Macalaster College. (7:00pm kickoff). Earlier this season, Macalaster defeated DCTC 6-1 at Apple Valley.
