DCTC Blue Knights Land First Win of Season Against Fergus Falls

03/12/06

PORT CHAROLOTTE, Florida. After suffering two losses on the road in Florida, DCTC recorded the first win of the season in game one of a doubleheader against Fergus Falls.

During the first game, Joe Hickey came on as relief and pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win. Dave Geiger closed out the game with a scoreless seventh inning to get the save with DCTC winning 6-5.

The second game started off with the Blue Knights showing strength, leading 7-1 as they entered the seventh inning. Fergus Falls, however, would send 11 hitters to the plate, six of whom scored runs to tie the game.

At the top of the eighth, Fergus Falls would score a run to take the game in an 8-7 victory. DCTC’s Alex Monita pitched solidly for the Blue Knights for more than five innings, allowing just one run in the sixth inning and striking out four batters.

“We probably should have come away with two wins today. You can be in complete control and next thing you know, the game changes ad you are in a battle. The team played pretty well for only our second day of games, but it would have been nice to get the sweep,” said head coach Tim Huber. “Like I told the guys, you put it behind you and prepare to win a few tomorrow.”

The Blue Knights continue their Florida road trip, taking on New Hampshire Monday, March 13 at 9 a.m.
