DCTC Tied For Third In The MCCC South Division!

ROSEMOUNT, Minnesota - Dakota County Technical College’s Blue Knights baseball team added two more wins to its record this Sunday, defeating MinnesotaWest Community College 6-3 and 10-0.

In the first game, Blue Knight standout Mike Spurling earned a complete game win striking out 11 and walking two, while allowing only five hits and two earned runs. Spurling is now 5-2 on the season.

Offensively, the Knights were led by Steve Kleppen and Alex Smith. Kleppen went 2-2 with a double and an RBI. Smith was 2-3 with a double and two RBI. Ryan Van Dusen had an RBI triple in the game.

In the second matchup, Alex Miller turned in a solid pitching performance. In 5 innings he struck out seven hitters, walked one, and allowed just four hits. Smith, Mike Krejci, and Matt Mogan had the only DCTC hits, but 11 walks were recorded courtesy of three Minnesota West pitchers.

The MCCC South Division standings currently have the Knights in a tie for third place with Riverland Community College at 5-5. Ridgewater leads the division with an 11-1 record, followed by Rochester at 7-5. The overall record for the Blue Knights is a respectable 15-15-1 - DCTC won a total of four games last season.

The Blue Knights will be in action hosting Ridgewater for a doubleheader on April 27. Game times are at 4 and 6 p.m. at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville, located two blocks north of County Road 42, on County Road 11.
