Mission Statement:

The Purpose:
The purpose of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) of Dakota County Technical College is to 1) enhance support and promote student opportunities in participation and or support (fan attendance and campus identity) and to 2) support the total student experience by recognizing intercollegiate athletics as a dynamic campus and student life program and to 3) provide on campus and near campus (students, staff, faculty and community) a positive student-athlete image through communication, promotion, and community service and primarily 4) discuss, process and present, with the assistance of the college athletic coordinator/director, the annual athletics budget process in conjunction with the DCTC Student Life Committee and all relative procedures.

Goals:
The goals of SAAC are to: 1) form and foster a relationship and image of athletics as a student life opportunity to participate, support and or attend campus related activities and entertainment and to 2) service as a representative advisory group for the college administration, faculty and student body in relation to policy, planning and budget from a student perspective and to 3) be active in the college and surrounding service community through various activities such as fundraisers, civic engagement and volunteering, and to 3) to be a voice for all Dakota County Technical College student-athletes both on campus and at the national level.

Leaders:
SAAC shall be led by an elected president. The student leaders are appointed by the sport team head coaches. The duties of the committee shall include, but not be limited to 1) creating sporting events that will help bond students on campus and to 2) engage the college community so that mutual appreciation exists for all constituencies on campus including student-athletes 3) Plan and partake in community service and engagement opportunities for all students. The duties of the president include 1) leading and conducting regular meetings and to 2) leading SAAC activities and 3) delegate and offer guidance to group members in charge of SAAC activities. The Athletic Director or Coordinator shall serve as the college advisor.

Membership:
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) membership includes Dakota County Technical College student athletes. Each athletic team at the college shall have three SAAC members appointed by head coaches.
